Echoes Of A Summer Shower
The first summer rain is something special!
A Prose Poem
I rejoice at the arrival of summer rains, like an unexpected shower of happiness drenching me suddenly.
I had been yearning for it for quite a long time, anticipating its arrival every moment.
The first few drops that caress the mud emanate a nice earthy aroma. Filling you with a sense of optimism, like something good is about to pour down at any moment.
The drizzle gains momentum, tapping against my windowpanes and drenching my potted plants with heaven’s tears.
The lashing rain dissolves the tall anthill into mud, and the muddy rivulets flow in all directions.
As I stand on the balcony, the cool breeze from the rain sprinkles droplets like a fountain, and it’s indeed a respite from the sweltering heat.
The rain interrupts the joyful flight of crows, pigeons, and sparrows, their feathers drenched, as they seek shelter beneath my sunshade.
The raindrops make the colors of the grass, leaves, and flowers appear brighter, as if by magic.
The parched earth is gently quenched by nature’s kindness, sealing its cracks with nourishing rain.
The dark clouds slowly drift away, making room for a streak of sunlight to break through.
The leaf blade trickles the last drops of rain onto my face. I wipe away the remnants of the abated shower.
I can’t bid adieu to the most wonderful moment; the rain brought a much-needed reprieve amidst the scorching heat.
It isn’t just the cooling showers, but the sign of hope in the midst of a most tough times!
I always look forward to the first summer rain. I live in a humid city that becomes even hotter during the summer. The first raindrop fills me with immense joy and brings the much-needed relief. Interestingly, I experienced an unexpected downpour in my city, which had been reeling under heatwaves. This first summer rain inspired me to write this poem.
