Gen Z’s Silent Battle: Breaking the Cycle of Trauma and Choosing Healing
We’re not just healing ourselves—we’re making sure the next generation never has to.
Our biggest flex is gonna be that our children won’t carry trauma caused by their parents.
There won’t be pressure to make us proud—they’ll already be proud of us.
Their mental health will matter more than their class rank.
They’ll be accepted for who they are, not burdened by the weight of our expectations.
Most of us from this generation are carrying wounds from our homes.
And if you're an exception—trust me, you’re lucky.
When we were kids, we wanted to grow up fast. We thought being an adult meant being free, being independent.
Now that we’re here, it feels… terrible.
We're out here posting, collecting likes, gaining followers, and calling it connection.
Thousands of “friends” online—
But when we’re breaking down,
when we're at our lowest—
there's no one to hold us, to tell us it’s going to be okay.
Sometimes we want to share it with our parents—
But halfway through, we stop.
Because what if they just blame us again?
So we think of our friends,
the ones we made memories with in school and college.
But we’re Gen Z—we’ve got trust issues.
And once again, we’re alone.
The anger starts building up.
We try to release it, and that makes our parents angry.
They say things that break our already shattered hearts.
We cry.
We start believing no one really loves us.
The cycle repeats.
And no one talks about it.
We don’t ask why.
Because we’ve all just… adapted it.
We carry anxiety and depression like it’s part of us now.
We don’t say it, but we all know it.
But maybe it’s time to change that.
Let’s take a break from everything that makes us anxious and depressed.
Let’s be kinder to ourselves.
Let’s love ourselves a little more.
Give ourselves more time.
And remind our tired little hearts that—
Everything’s gonna be okay.
If this spoke to you, give it a clap, leave a comment, or share it with someone who needs it.
I write about healing, mental health, and the silent struggles we rarely talk about—but all deeply feel.
This is just the beginning of my journey.
