I’m Not Your Left Dream
Incomplete Within
They loved me
because I’m their daughter.
They helped me walk
but never let me run.
They taught me to speak
but never learned to listen.
I had a roof over my head,
a plate full of food,
new clothes, and an education
where I was alive, never lived.
I cried in silence
so they could sleep in peace.
They loved me the way they wanted,
not the way I needed.
They held my hands to protect me,
But all I held was trauma.
They thought they knew me well,
but I only made them feel whole.
They felt complete
while I remained blank.
I was a social success
while failing myself.
I hope, someday,
I will finally start walking.
