Did You Consider Healthcare Workers When You Decided Not To Vaccinate?
The continuing impact of Covid 19
It’s the one bone of contention when the subject of anti-vaxxers comes up; that anyone who decides against vaccination who then gets sick, puts the health of their care providers in jeopardy.
It’s been a tough ride for all health care workers throughout the pandemic, not just nurses. Patient attendants still must provide basic hygiene care; x-ray technicians are needed to photograph lungs; secretaries juggle paperwork and domestic staff must disinfect and clean rooms. And that’s just the tip of the proverbial worker iceberg.
It’s a team of people who put themselves at risk, day in and day out when a Covid positive patient enters a hospital.
Yes, many of them have already had Covid — and some are suffering from the long-term effects that are still under scrutiny.
Yes, most of them have been vaccinated, so if they do get sick then they may not get as sick as they would have if unvaccinated.
And for those workers that have chosen not to vaccinate, I am concerned they are putting not only themselves at risk, but the population seeking medical attention in general.
