A Bossy Nurse Tried To Intimidate Me!
Of course, she did not succeed
I did not know who this nurse thought she was! In fact, I could not figure out exactly what she thought she could do. One evening, I was on my unit minding my own business when Nurse “Ratchet” came to the floor. Boy, was I ever in for a big surprise!
I had just finished with my new admission. Everything was going great. It was actually a quiet evening until I made the acquaintance of Nurse Ratchet.” The funny thing about this situation was that she was not even from my unit.
So why was she on my floor??? You must be wondering. Apparently, she was under the impression that she could do whatever she wanted. Not with me, though — as she soon found out!
She came to the unit to enquire about my newly admitted patient. I am still not certain why. She started off by demanding to look through my patient’s chart. I played the investigator. My first question to her was who are you? Her reply was, “My name is ……, and I am a nurse”! “Just call downstairs, everybody knows who I am just ask them.” My second question was, when did you have this patient? I asked this because she was not the RN who gave report to me. It turns out that she never had this patient. The third question I asked was why did she want my patient’s information.
