AI and Writing with a Chronic Illness
This is just a rant.
As someone with a chronic illness, I do use AI tools for editing my articles. But this does not mean my work is AI-generated. In fact, many (if not most) of my articles are based on research and hours of work. I am one of the few unlucky writers here who has not earned anything — yet I love writing and researching. For hours. Yes. I have been diagnosed with Autism, which might contribute to this obsession.
This piece is not based on hours of human research. It’s based on human feelings.
I’m writing this because I’ve been accused of using AI to generate my content, and this is absolutely false!
AI tools that detect whether written content is AI- or human-generated are not foolproof. Different tools may even give conflicting results.
In any case, my chronic illness involves brain fog and overwhelm. Furthermore, English is my third language. I’m still a researcher — an academic researcher — and I spend days, sometimes weeks, researching my articles.
I’m just so exhausted with all of this.
