First, I want to apologise for the slow times for draft responses. I have been ill, leaving the workload on others. I am still recovering, and I am back to help ensure that our publication fosters a supportive community on Medium.
A lot of publications have been having issues with the quality of work being submitted to their publications. One publication has worded the problem perfectly with their latest newsletter, which I will highlight here.
One of the biggest trends is a significant increase in AI-generated content intoxicating the platform. It is a massive problem that Medium and our editors are addressing with significant effort. Readers also don’t like such content and report offenders.
As you might have noticed, many writers lost the MPP, and now some of them contact me on social media and ask me why. I believe some of them did not follow Medium’s rules, assumed it was just another blogging platform, and might have sent content that did not align with platform rules. As a publication owner, one of my goals is to inform and educate new writers and help them succeed.
However, despite my efforts, I am disappointed with some writers who do not read the submission guidelines, do not follow instructions given by volunteer editors, and do not check their private messages. And they keep sending content no readers would be interested in seeing or reading. They…
