(WC1) The 7 minute story challenge week 1

She looked into the mirror one last time before walking to the restaurant. Her heart was thumping so hard it felt as if it would just jump out of her chest. Her mind was racing so fast it felt like she might crash somewhere.

She wore the red dress she had always thought she would wear if she ever got to see him again. “Am I looking perfect? Is the lipstick still on? Is my hair still in place?” One thought jumped the line before the previous one could finish.

Finally, taking a deep breath, she walked up to the restaurant. Anxiously, she looked around until she saw him seated at the table. There he was. Twenty years had passed since she last saw him. Was it really twenty years ago? Looking at him, she still felt like the teenage girl who had been madly in love with him.

His eyes met hers, and he looked as stunned as she was. He stood up and just kept looking. She started walking toward him with slow movements and heavy breaths until there were only a few steps between them. Time just stopped right there.
