Embracing Simplicity Over Gadgets
As a kid, I constantly craved the outdoors. It didn’t matter what the activity was — whether it was a sport or just playing catch — I wanted to be outside. I wasn’t special in any way; all my friends were the same. We eagerly looked for any opportunity to run to the playground. I remember no child ever stayed behind in the classroom during recess. We would finish lunch as fast as possible, just to squeeze in a few extra minutes on the field. Some of us even snuck bites during class to gain more time to play.
I still remember the excitement before the gym class — the last five minutes of the prior lesson felt unbearable. We’d give the teacher frustrated looks, hoping they wouldn’t cut into our precious game time. The feeling of liberation when we finally stepped outside was indescribable. Why did we love it so much? Was there something wrong with our upbringing? Did we all dream of becoming professional athletes? I don’t think so.
I believe we were drawn to the outdoors because of the camaraderie we shared — the bonds we built and the team spirit that grew with every game. The excitement to play and the desire to win were always…
