The wizard Jaden Nightshade was on the lookout for poison materials for his latest experiement in capturing small creatures of the forest. They all were. Trolls and wizards alike were aiming to survive in a wild environment that could also be deadly to them.

Being new to the Dray Woods was a challenge for Jaden. He asked around and was given the name of a troll. After donning his most protective garments and talismans, he did a ceremony to ensure his escape should things get dicey.

Juma saw the wizard coming before he was seen himself. Jaden approached with cautious steps at the sight of the log bridge.

Juma belly laughed at the look on his face. Emboldened by this Jaden asked if it was true that troll spit was deadly. Juma eyed the elegant looking fellow and said, “Yes, we do our prey the service of numbing their bodies before eating their heads off.” Jaden was slightly nauseated but proceeded to inquire further.

Jaden, politely asked if Juma were willing to donate some of that spit into the bottle he held out. Juma eyed the bottle suspiciously. He hadn’t grown up in these woods just to be taken by some young magician!

After much deliberation over a warming fire the two came to an agreement about the use of troll spit. So, the bottle was left in Juma’s hands and he was instructed to spit into it every morning at dawn sharp for a month. Jaden promised to return at the end of this time.

Juma’s compliance was unusual , as he loathed most humans and mages especially. Yet, this one was more like himself than he was willing to admit. He yawned as the bonfire died down and wandered back into the cave beneath the log bridge to sleep.
