Growing up, the only thing I knew for sure was that I wanted freedom to control my life.
Where has my effervescent personality gone?
Why can't I be the captain of my ship?
I have been a teacher for almost 20 years.
The summers off are amazing, and the pension is reassuring, but the freedom to define one's future is limited.
One of the reasons I started writing on Medium was to begin carving a new path for myself. These articles are the formative part of my journey toward eventual self-sufficiency.
Moving forward, I need to take more leaps of faith.
Take courses and seek out mentors, all with the end goal of self-reliance.
Retirement is still far off. Counting down the days until then would be disingenuous to my spirit of perpetual growth.
I need a North Star that will pull me with purpose. Insert my new mission:
to help busy dads go from feeling overwhelmed and exhausted by daily demands to achieving a balanced and fulfilling lifestyle so that they can be more present with their families, enjoy their personal growth, and find joy in everyday moments.
I have travelled down this road, and although I haven't fully ascended the mountain, I am traversing in the right direction. Using anecdotal evidence and the desires of struggling dads to guide me, I would eventually like to make this my full-time job.
It would be disingenuous to think my path is the same as everyone else's, so I need help creating a meaningful curriculum.
I'm conducting fundamental research to learn more about busy, burned-out dads' challenges, fears, desires, and goals so I can serve them at the deepest level.
Does that describe you?
If so, do you have time for a quick Zoom interview?
Let me know in the comments, and I'll get back to you with more details.
I appreciate your time!
