If Christ Judges as the Son of Man…
What does that say about our destiny?
You see, I had been reading some very interesting passages in the Bible that left me questioning all that I thought I knew about our place as human beings in the overall scheme of things.
I came across the following words that dug into my heart and unearthed my curiosity:
"Truly I tell you, an hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. For just as the Father has life in himself, so also he has granted to the Son to have life in himself. And he has granted him the right to pass judgment, because he is the Son of Man" (John 5:25-27 CSB).
Jesus Christ in the passage above spoke something mind-boggling; that He has been entrusted with judgmental authority—not because He's God (although He is), but because He's the Son of Man. Odd, right? It seems being human is integral to this role.
But then it gets more interesting. When we need someone to bridge the gap between us and God, who steps forward? Again, it is Jesus Christ— in His capacity as a man. As Paul so graphically expresses it: "For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5 CSB).
