When she felt helpless
A poem of an incident which could have been averted.
She poised elegantly on the stage of life
unaffected by the scars behind her
Her prim and proper knotted hair and persona
exuded perfection; no one could play it better
She hid the sick thoughts given to her by the world
gnawing on every bit of peace in her mind
I stood there, helpless, while my heart cried out
her folks, unfazed, watched her from behind
Those restless eyes, that dried-out smile
they were the validation of the trauma she bore
When she was being judged and pulled down
her journey to freedom gave her a bruised core
They continued to feed on her benevolent soul
nothing changed with those with a heart of stone
But she struggled to maintain her grandeur,
it was tearing her apart, bit by bit, a story unknown
Watching her go down was a wrenching pain
while the stars struggled to twinkle on that cloudy night
The silence inside her was nothing less than a storm
she left with her misery when she couldn’t make it right
Some incidents in life leave us disheartened, bearing guilt in our hearts. The thought of not standing up to the wrong decisions creates a black hole in the mind, forever.
