The Scariest Scripture of All
Are we who we say we are?
I was a college teacher for many years, and I always looked forward to the new school year beginning.
I loved teaching! However, I taught biology, and most students were taking this course to get their science requirements completed. They really weren’t that interested in biology.
My challenge each semester was to bring so much joy and excitement to the subject matter that students couldn’t help but be engaged. I made it practical and applicable to their everyday lives.
All of us are teachers in one way or another. People are always observing and learning from us, for good or for bad. Those of us who have children know that children learn merely by watching their parents…what they say, what they eat and drink, what they read, what they watch, etc.
It’s no different for those of us who profess to be followers of Christ. Sometimes, I really dislike the word “Christian.” It has morphed into a cultural word, rather than a word indicating faith.
For instance, if a person grows up in a home where the family attended church, that person tends to identify as a “Christian.” According to a recent Gallup , 68% of Americans identify as “Christian.” That’s two out of every three people.
