The World Is Not Fair, And It Never Was

Justice always wins! Really?
I think I have never ever heard a funnier joke than this in my life. From the moment we are born, we hear about fairness and are taught that if we work hard, we will succeed, good people will be rewarded, justice always wins, etc. But the reality is completely different from this.

Some people are born into wealth and comfort, others fight just to survive. Do we always get the result of our hard work? Does our life give us rewards according to our goodness and efforts? The answer is no!

Life Has Never Been Fair

A construction worker spends his entire day under the sun, without proper food and rest but earns less than someone who is making deals in an air-conditioned office. This happens many times when talented artists struggles a lot for recognition, while an influencer with the right connections becomes an overnight sensation. Innocent people always suffer because of war, corruption, and greed, while the guilty walk free.

We have always seen that even nature does not care about fairness. Some animals are born to rule the jungle, while others are just prey. A natural calamity doesn’t stop to check whether someone is rich or poor before destroying homes. Diseases don’t ask if a person has lived a good life before striking.

Why is the world unfair?

The bitter truth is, that the world was never designed to be fair. Luck, privilege, and circumstances shape our lives more than we would like to admit. No law of the universe guarantees justice. While studying history, you must all have analyzed that, civilizations didn’t rise because fairness prevailed, but they rose because of power, strategy, and sometimes, sheer luck.

What can we do?

We can’t change the unfairness of the world, only what we can do is we can decide how we should respond to it.

1. Accept Reality But Keep Going.

Yes, life is unfair. But that doesn’t mean we stop trying. Hard work may not guarantee success, but persistence and consistency definitely can increase our chances of achieving success.

2. Be a Source of Fairness

The world lacks fairness. So let’s create it ourselves. Treat people with kindness, help where we can, and stand up for what’s right.

3. Adapt and Overcome

Life is all about uncertainty, so the best way to survive is to stay flexible, learn, and seize opportunities when they come your way.

4. Find Meaning Beyond Fairness

Instead of expecting fairness, seek purpose. Think of people like Gandhi, Mandela, or Malala. They faced extreme unfairness but turned their struggles into something meaningful.

5. Be like a tree

Have you ever seen how a tree spreads its roots on a hard rock? It spreads so strongly that even the rock has to break. The river keeps flowing without caring about the path. So we also have to move forward in life with such strength.

The Choice Is Ours

The world is not fair, and it never will be. But still, we can be fair as much as we can, we can choose to be kind, supportive, resilient, purposeful and whatnot. Instead of waiting for fairness, let’s create our own version of justice, no matter how small. Because even in an unfair world, a little bit of goodness can still make a difference.
