Stop Scrolling Away From Your Feelings

--

Sometimes when we’re in crisis, we create distractions for ourselves, also known as barriers to facing our deepest fears. – Linda Martin // Lucifer S2

Rokas Aleliunas

Sometimes, when life gets really hard..when we feel lost, scared, or overwhelmed..we find ourselves doing everything but facing what’s really going on inside. We distract ourselves. We stay busy. We scroll, we binge-watch, we clean, we make jokes, we laugh a little too loud, or we disappear into our own world.

It’s not that we’re lazy. It’s not that we don’t care. It’s just that facing our real feelings can be scary. And deep down, we’re trying to protect ourselves from pain we’re not sure how to handle.

That’s completely human.

Distractions are like shields. They help us get through the day when things feel too heavy. They give us a break from the storm inside. But after a while, those distractions start to cover up something important: what we really need to feel, understand, and heal.

Healing doesn’t happen by avoiding the hard stuff. It starts when we’re brave enough to slow down and ask ourselves, “What am I feeling right now? What am I running from?”

We don’t have to fix everything in one day. But we do need to be honest with ourselves.
