Easter Hasn’t Ended, It’s Only Just Begun

I mentioned in another post that I’m currently listening to the audio performance of The Crystal Cave by Mary Stewart. Toward the end, Merlin sneaks Uther Pendragon into Tintagel so that Uther can have sex with Lady Igraine.
Yes, yes, I know, you Arthur lovers, that they weren’t merely having sex; they were forging the future of a nation. Bear with me for a moment. That’s actually part of the point I’m trying to make, notwithstanding the cosmic orgasm Mary Stewart describes at the moment Arthur is conceived. That scene made me really curious about Mary Stewart.
Once I stopped laughing, I started thinking about the idea that ordinary things that people do can have extraordinary significance when they’re done in accordance with the movements, wishes, or the ebb and flow of higher power(s).
Perhaps this was the norm back then, but Mary didn’t write Merlin’s magic as something flowing from his agency, like Harry Potter. Merlin is just a vessel through which God flows in the interest of shaping the future. The following excerpt is a great example.
