Are Our Systems Crumbling Around Us?
Or is Trump simply revealing the cracks that have been there the entire time?
Do you remember that scene in Jurassic Park in which the Velociraptors spent all their time testing the fence, trying to figure out a way to get in? When they eventually GOT IN, it wasn’t luck; it was persistence. We accepted that because we basically assumed they were monsters. Monsters don’t think. They do.
When I was a child, I focused on what I wanted to do. Like Velociraptors, I was totally unconcerned about whether rules even existed. Needless to say, I drove adults crazy. The me writing this post right now would kill the six-year-old me if, through some trick of physics, you could actually put that me and this me in the same room at the same time.
This is why I don’t understand why so few people seem capable of seeing what Trump is doing. He’s looking for flaws in the system, of which there are many, and exploiting those flaws to his advantage.
Judge Michael Luttig made the following statement on Deadline Whitehouse:
Danald Trump has largely succeeded in delegitimizing both America’s democracy and elections, as well as its constitution and rule of law.
