How I finally stood up for body autonomy.

It took years to figure out who I was dealing with.

I had no idea what narcissism was.

How it starts out

I always see it coming.

He will start being nice days after the manic episode.

The manic episode will involve name-calling, making fun of my clothing style, hair, piercings, my career choice, my family, my cleaning skills, forgetting to empty the lint trap…you name it .

This may last for hours or days.

When he finally feels like he’s devalued me enough he will start being nice and going out of his way to do things for me and I think “ wow, maybe he sees what he’s done and feels bad” so I try and talk about it.

He gets upset with me for bringing it up, tells me it’s in the past, and most of the time walks away.

I know how this goes because he does it everytime.
