Amid perfect images both online and in our mind, motherhood can feel like a battle of ‘not enough.’ But the truth? Our love Is Enough.
Motherhood (and parenthood, because fathers aren’t immune) is often a battleground of comparison. We measure ourselves against the idyllic portrayals on social media, in movies, and even in fleeting glimpses of other parents at the park or social events. These moments — just a tiny snapshot of someone else’s life — can quickly become standards we hold ourselves to, contrasting their highlights with what we perceive as our shortcomings. But perhaps the toughest comparison is with an idealized version of ourselves, created long before we truly knew what motherhood would entail.
The “Perfect Mother” Illusion:
