Is this Subsidy Worth it?
Even though my biological time is ticking, I must exercise “integrity in the moment of choice,” as renowned author Stephen Covey often says.
I wake up to growing pains around my waist. They come at intervals, and at first, I try to take a deep breath to ease my mind. This is a monthly reminder of my existence as a reproductive being. Annoyed, I walk to the bathroom and confirm receiving my monthly “present.”
I take a more extended shower, pressing the warm towel to massage my waist, hoping to ease the pain, as my aunt taught me. Finally, at the recollection that it is a Wednesday, I resort to taking a painkiller and head to work.
On my way, I put a record of my period and immediately get flashbacks that my biological clock is ticking.
Beyond 40, having a child is a miracle if that’s my goal.
My mind drifts to the current news that has been popping up on my phone.
Tokyo metropolitan area has made headlines for offering subsidized plans for egg-freezing.
This news is commendable, but do I qualify? What are the costs associated with the subsidy plan? How many cycles of egg retrieval can be made? What are the health implications?
