Gen-Z is not Sex Negative
We just want nothing to do with your version of sex positivity.
Nearly 4 in 10 young adults in California have , with young men more likely to report not having sexual partners. According to the CDC, it’s not just California either; are having sexual relationships, especially after the pandemic. And about wants less sex on screen and more focus on platonic partnerships.
The millennial and Gen-X journalists writing about these studies are prescribing this to less social interaction among younger people, economic worries, the prevalence of social media, and the pandemic. These certainly can be factors. It seems like some of them have gotten around to calling Gen-Z , implying we are turning back the clock on the well-fought for effort for sexual liberation spearheaded in the 70s. As a Gen-Z woman, while it’s true we use our phones more than the generations that didn’t have them in the first place, I disagree with this idea that we are having less sex because we’re too chronically online, or that we’re becoming conservative. I simply believe the ‘sex positivity’ and the modern culture we were given does little to protect us, especially as women.
