TW: (Sexual) Grooming.

is the action or behavior used to establish an emotional connection with a minor under the age of consent, and sometimes the child’s family, to lower the child’s inhibitions with the objective of sexual abuse.

I started this article like you started our relationship.
Slowly probing how much is possible.

I wrote short sentences the length of your messages and waited tensely for the reply.

My reply.

How does it feel to have you in my inbox? How much can I write, how much can I imply without feeling the urge to block you again?

It’s as if I’m reading my old diary. I see all the excitement, yet it depresses me to know what follows a few pages later. It’s an old story, but the girl I was didn’t know it.

The paper is already thin at the corners from all the page-turning, but one thing remains the same. Whenever I open it, or the box buried in my memories, the man you were keeps stepping out, and I’m a girl again.
