Lessons Learned From My Second Full Month On Medium

Do you want fries with that? Working in fast food is usually more lucrative than writing on Medium.

Where will consistent posting on Medium for three months get you?

This is my second report, and if you’re here just to make money, this piece is not meant for you.

I am here to connect with people interested in reading what I’m interested in writing, and I want to read interesting things posted by other good writers. Any profit I make will be gravy.

It’s often claimed that only about 8 percent of Medium writers make $100 or more per month. I’m an experienced writer so I beleive I could vault into that category fairly easily if that were my only goal, but it’s not.

I do not want to concentrate on writing stories about making money on Medium. (Yes, that’s what I’m doing right now. Forgive me.) Many of the top writers talk about growing your audience, getting followers, finding a niche, writing better headlines, improving your SEO — and that’s all fine. I get how to do all that and could write about it daily, but I’m not interested in making money by telling people how to make money.
