Would You Flush A Mouse Down the Toilet?
Always turn on your bathroom light at night unless you want a mouse to bite your butt
I thought it was an urban legend — stories of people finding mice, snakes and other critters in their toilets at night.
Until it happened to me.
This is why you must always turn on the light at night.
I know you don’t want to. It wakes you up more fully and makes it a bit harder to fall back to sleep. You’re already annoyed that you woke up at 2 a.m. You would like to fall back to sleep as soon as possible.
Well, let me tell you something. If you think your sleep is harmed by a bright bathroom light, wait until you are about to drop your bare hindquarters onto the toilet seat and see a mouse swimming around in there.
Now you’re awake!
We live in an old house. The general advice is to block every possible opening to keep out mice, but that’s not so easy with a really old place. There are just so many little nooks and crannies, and mice are really good at figuring out ways in.
So we’re pretty resigned to getting mice every year when it first gets cold.
