What Is Medium For?

Medium is something different to each of us:

• It’s a marketplace where you can find customers for your course, book or coaching service.
• It’s a school where you can learn all the things about writing you didn’t learn as a student.
• It’s an online salon where writers can meet other writers and exchange ideas.
• It’s a therapy session where people can write about their life experiences and what they’ve learned.
• It’s a pulpit where you can preach to people about what you think they should believe and do.
• It’s a library full of good writing.
• It’s a news source where you can be both a reporter and a reader.
• It’s a place where, no matter your background or education or place in society, you can express your opinion about anything, free of gatekeepers, providing a valuable diversity of voices.

For me, Medium is a salon.

Mostly. It’s a lot of things to me.

But mainly, I come here to read good writing and to offer others the best writing I’m capable of creating. I’m gratified that so many people appreciate it.
