I’m always interested in saving a buck, so each time I see something on that subject, I click.

And then I get really annoyed.

I’m way ahead of those folks.

Nine times out of 10, the hints are to do things I already do, or to stop doing things I’ve never done.

The problem is, most people writing such stories are smug well-off people who honestly believe the reason poor or working-class people don’t have money is that they’re blowing everything on iPhones, lattes — and, of course, the problematic avocado toast that we know has kept so many millennials from homeownership.

They have no idea how it feels to hear such clueless advice, but now, as a public service, I am going to offer them a taste.
