There Is a Definition for Hate Speech After All

But it is more complicated than you think

A while ago, I tripped into this free speech rabbit hole and, believe me, it’s been a ride!

With this whole and with some , I’ve felt compelled to study this topic further. For a long time I had known that there were limits to free speech foreseen in most national and international laws, namely when it comes to incitement to violence and hate.

Simply put, most of the world agrees that free speech is not an absolute right. But the nuances get way deeper than that! Especially because it seems hard to find a universal and formal definition for what constitutes hate speech. In this article, I share my key insights from a thought-provoking journey into the subtle nuances of free speech.
