Is Monkeypox the New Covid?

There’s one important difference: The Dumbass Factor

I doubt monkeypox is going to be as wide-spread as Covid, but it’s early days and I’m not an expert. However, there’s one really important difference that I think will end up being significant: The Dumbass Factor.

The dumbasses all declared Covid was “flu” and refused to take any precautions. Covid was indeed loosely related to flu in that both are respiratory illnesses with some overlapping symptoms, even though Covid is much more serious and is caused by a completely different virus.

However, monkeypox is related to smallpox, and we all understand that smallpox is a big deal. Moreover, it can permanently scar your face, and even the least vain people would like to avoid that.

So should monkeypox take off, I’m guessing even the dumbasses will agree it needs to be taken seriously.

All it would take is a handful of celebrity dumbasses with permanent monkeypox scars on their face to convince everyone else to be more careful.

One would think that avoiding death would be the ultimate motivation, but it isn’t, obviously. Physical disfigurement? I’m betting that will be.
