In America, we call it the ‘American Dream.’

I bring this up because I had a somewhat interesting conversation last evening that started with a wrong number text message. Someone accidentally texted me from New York City looking for someone else, or so she said.

The text message started by asking me if I was coming to dinner. She was serving chicken curry. I responded that I wouldn’t be able to come over because I don’t go out much and I was dog-sitting. I thought this was my wife’s friend living nearby who my wife asked to keep an eye on me while she is in Brooklyn visiting our daughter for a week.

When this mystery texter asked if I was Alicia, I replied that I was not. She apologized for the wrong number and I thought that would be it. Then she texted me back, asking me questions about myself and then I got concerned. Is this going to be a lonely-hearts conversation? Is this a scam of some sort?

She described herself as a young entrepreneur from Singapore, who came to the United States four years ago for work/business. I am not sure which. She describes herself as mid-30s and working as an interior designer and crypto-currency trader. She didn’t say business owner but…
