I’m A Disgraceful Slob But Even I Think Things Have Gone Too Far

Just a little more decorum would be nice

John Fetterman needs to put on his big-boy pants and a suit.

It’s funny that I of all people would stand up for a formal dress code for the Senate, because I’m a chronic slob who brags about how seldom I invest in new clothes.

I support Fetterman politically. I was greatly relieved when Fetterman beat Mehmet Oz in the race for senator of Pennsylvania. (I wish I could say Fetterman beat the pants off Oz, because that would be a fun thing to say in this context, but the race was a lot closer than it should have been, considering what a kook Oz is.)

But yes. I do want our leaders to dress up when they’re representing us. It signals respect for the important work they’re supposed to be doing, and it sends a message.

Remember what it looked like when a bunch of violent, deranged Trumpers turned the U.S. Capitol Building into a Nazi cosplay convention?

I don’t want our leaders to look that way. I want them to look like serious people. I don’t want a bunch of randos milling around in there, making it hard to tell if…
