I Bought a Car Online From Another State

All-wheel drive is a must in the Midwest

After sliding on the ice a few times during the winter in my Mazda 3, I decided it was time for a new car, one that had all-wheel drive. With the harsh Midwest winters, you might as well get a truck or an SUV. I hate trucks, so I opted for the latter.

My Mazda 3 was great. I had it for 10 years. It was sporty, peppy and handled curves like a pro. I loved everything about it except the low-profile tires, which were extremely sensitive to cold weather and required air constantly. The biggest con was how the car handled in inclement weather.

I had some close calls in my Mazda.

Being a passenger in a car gives me a lot of anxiety. When I first got my Mazda, my ex-boyfriend and I took it on vacation. He drove and we got caught in a nasty storm. The car hydroplaned on the interstate and started to slide. Luckily, we didn’t go off into the ditch, but it scared the heck out of me.

A few years ago, my husband bought a vehicle on Craigslist from a private individual. The vehicle was in a neighboring state and we had to go pick it up during a blizzard. Of course, it had to be on a remote country road, too! I made it over the snow and ice on the interstate, but…
