Quite a few new stories lately spell out doom for the United States if things don’t turn around. And with the new Congress taking session this week, it looks even more bleak for John Q. Public.

Republican nutjobs took over the House of Representatives and spread chaos before electing their new speaker.

It was quite the circus, to quote several pundits.

Now the real fun begins.

This Freedom Caucus, as the nutjobs call themselves, is calling the shots. How can they do this? Well, they held Kevin McCarthy’s feet to the fire. If he wanted the top job, he had to accept their demands.

Apparently, power — or the perception of it, anyway — is more important than governing the country.

The powers of the Speaker of the House have been gutted now and may never come back. The position has now been sold to the highest bidder.

The winner of the auction is the Freedom Caucus, which is full of crazies like Marjorie Taylor Green, Jim Jordan and other wackos elected by their red-neck districts. There are only about 20 of these idiots but that is enough to throw a monkey wrench into a nearly even…
