The Conclusion About Suicide
Have you ever thought about ending your life?
I’d guess that among all readers, those who’ve never had that thought even once are probably the minority.
Some people might have thought about it once or twice.
Others — hundreds, thousands, maybe even tens of thousands of times.
For some, it’s a thought that visits them every single day.
What about me?
If you just glance at the list of articles I’ve published here on Medium, you might be able to guess how many times I’ve thought about it.
I’d say… maybe between 50 to 100 times in my life.
(Kind of less than you’d expect, right?)
One of the hardest times for me was when I was betrayed and scammed by a friend of 20 years.
In moments like that, yeah — suicidal thoughts can show up. (Though I never acted on them.)
In Korea, where I live, around 36 people die by suicide every day.
That includes people from all walks of life — from the elderly living alone to struggling young adults.
So what’s my conclusion?
Even now, I believe suicide is not the answer.
It never has been.
