Is Passion a Scam? My Journey Through Science, Engineering, and Economics.
Here is what to do when your passion for a field or something has died, you can take this to the bank!
When I was small, maybe junior secondary school, my father shared his thoughts on my academics. He wanted me to study Art, which included subjects like Government and Literature.
It was obvious he was seeing the bigger picture, and honestly speaking those subjects would always provide a solid foundation for life. I honestly couldn’t take the idea from him. I thought I was meant for something more challenging, something that would push my limits intellectually.
I thought, “I’m intelligent; I should be in science.” So, I ignored his advice and chose science subjects instead. Don’t blame me so much, anyone who claimed intelligence then would always go for science so as to study either Engineering or Medicine or Law.
So I chose civil engineering after all. I imagined the prestige and the respect of being called an Engineer. The path was not easy neither the journey. There were countless sleepless nights, assignments were in their numbers, drawings, task upon task. But I pushed through, determined to prove myself, and I graduated as one of the best students in the department.
