Rhea makes her way through the cobwebs in the kitchen. Her face is streaked with dust.

Slowly, she pulls the handle of the rickety cupboard over the sink. The door opens with a loud creak, reluctant to give away its secrets.

Nothing. Rhea sighs.

“Were you hoping for a couple of skeletons to tumble out?” Gina laughs, as she stoops down to get through the low doorway into the tiny kitchen.

“God, you scared me. Where’s Shalu?” Rhea is a bit embarrassed.

“In one of the bedrooms, I think. I can hear her humming. This house is a huge disappointment. Haunted, my foot! We should have just gone to the mall.”

“Shalu, come on let’s go. Let’s get to Rhea’s before it gets dark,” Gina shouts.

“So did you run into any ghosts?” Shalu appears looking bored.

“Yeah, we made out a bit and then I remembered I had a boyfriend. So, I shoo’d him away,” Gina laughs.

The three of them walk out into the chilly evening air. It reeks of dead leaves.
