The Dammed

I’ve shed
enough tears to empty
the reservoir
and yet
I can feel the heaviness
of the tears
that still sit
there
on the edge of the dam
waiting
for one more drop
of pain
to create a ripple effect
of waves
that crash
over
the unprotected edge
cascading
down the other side.
