Let These Words

--

A poem

Let these words fall from my soul.
The night is so quiet tonight.
The loneliness is heavy.
My eyes a moment from tears.

Let these words hold me in this world.
Written down here so they are no longer inside me.
Captured so that I can sleep.
Let them not hurt my heart.

Let these words be my companion.
Sitting next to me, the quiet held at bay.
The whisper of a friend.
The breath of a lover.

Let these words heal me.
Not through their illusion,
but because of these lines, I felt again,
and the world was not so cold.
