Your Death Caused This!
Gone on Autumn Wings
You look at someone a few more times than usual when they’re about to leave
when the sail boat docks
when the stern beckons
autumn leaves fall towards the earth
unsure and angry
the sea stirs its belly and saliva
froths
thawing your frozen limbs
Then you will see
That life doesn’t let you choose when to say goodbye
it won’t be on a morning you’ll like
to see
Like a damp blanket
grief will fall
and let you feel how leaves
feel in autumn
dry,
torn,
cracked.
