Why You Should
Create and share your work to the world
I have been here on Medium for a little over a month now. It has been a struggle to capture as many readers as I wanted. Countless sleepless nights dedicated to researching, editing and re-writing articles- and yet only 8 published stories, due to my fear of failure and inexperience in this field.
It’s hard enough getting my work out to a passive audience, then comes the false engagement and the depressing feeling you get when your hard work is ignored.
I wonder if I should betray myself and start writing clickbait articles like “How to make money on Medium” or “I was doing this on Medium until…..”? Then I remembered that was not what I signed up for. My bio reads “ I create to inspire”, at least let me stay true to it.
Although even if I have not gone “viral”, this month of writing for an audience has undeniably made me a better writer. The realities have sharpened my perspective and also remodelled my thinking. It also changed how I use other social media apps, I have become a curator, not a consumer. I acquire scraps from other creators that I can use in the future.
“Life is so short that you can’t waste even a day subscribing to what someone thinks you can do versus knowing what you can do.”
