The Mystery of My Dreams

When I scrutinize my dream patterns, they seem quite weird. Some dreams are nightmarish, as I wake up in the middle of the night with a sudden jerk. My palpitations don’t subside immediately. My face is covered in beads of sweat, and my breathing pattern is irregular.

It takes some time to return to normalcy. I whisper a short prayer for a few seconds before trying to fall back asleep. Even when I close my eyes, the frightening imagery lingers, disturbing me deeply, and I struggle to fall asleep.

Dreams That Heal

On the other hand, some dreams are so realistic, they hardly feel like dreams. I feel content that my years of longing are over and I have attained what I desired the most. I feel relieved that I don’t have to worry anymore.

Drifting between dream and reality

But to be honest, neither of those things would actually happen. I understand that dreams are manifestations of our inner thoughts. I feel a bit sorry for my mind, the way it navigates both hope and despair while managing to seem as if nothing is brewing inside.

A Mind Full of Stories

I feel that my mind is a raconteur, coming up with different stories that showcase varied emotions in the form of dreams. It blends fear with desires. It acts as a pathfinder, as it shows different realms of our thoughts, which we aren’t aware of when we are awake.

When Dreams Feel Real

A particular dream changed my perception. It made me realize that dreams are not merely random images from our subconscious mind but a form of premonition. A few years ago, I had a dreadful dream about my father’s death.

I woke up startled and remained upset the entire day. Still, I hesitated to discuss it with my mother or any family members.

But just a fortnight later, I was devastated when my dream came true. I was consumed by guilt. Had I insisted that my father go for a medical checkup, perhaps I could have saved his life. Those thoughts continue to haunt me, even after his demise!

Decoding the Meaning of Dreams

The mind generates numerous images in the form of dreams, and interpreting every single one isn’t always feasible. But a few dreams convey really significant messages.

Can we rely on our dreams?

After many instances, I have begun to trust dreams more. These days, I actually look to them for clues when dealing with pressing concerns. Instead of always searching for answers outside, I started relying on my mind, because even when our body rests, our mind is constantly working and producing solutions through varied patterns that we visualize as dreams.

And honestly, who understands us better than we do ourselves? Hence I view dreams as messages in disguise.
