Unveiling the Authenticity of Being Light
After reading the metaphor of being the light and salt multiple times, I have a new reflection of it this time.
In Matthew 5:13–14 of the Bible, Jesus encourages believers to be the light and salt of the world. Light illuminates our path in darkness, while salt is an essential seasoning that adds flavor to our daily lives.
In Matthew 5: 13–14, Jesus said,
“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? …
You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. …”
Whether believers or not, many of us actively influence and assist others in society, including every author on the Medium platform. We use our talents and stories to impact others positively.
This article isn’t about urging people to be light and salt. Instead, I want to share my personal experiences and observations on how to do light and salt things better. I want to talk about whether we are authentic, consistent and integrated when helping others.
