How To Talk To Yourself To Get The Best Out Of Life?
Change Your Narrative To Change Your Life.
There are two types of people on this planet.
Category 1: The complainers.
Category 2: The acceptors.
The category we belong to has a deep impact on our journey on this planet.
For one , it has implication as far as our personal evolution is concerned. And second , the world needs more of the second category of individuals , so that we can collectively raise the overall vibration of this planet.
To understand this, let’s take a look at both these categories separately.
1. The Complainers.
Hypothetically, for now, imagine you belong to this category.
Now imagine that you had a bad day at work. You did your part. But your superior yelled at you just before you were about to leave for the day. You had to stay to complete something which was not your job and frustrated, you reached the bar, where you had to meet with your friends.
When your friends asked why you got delayed — you started off — “ I had such a bad day. That guy ( your superior ) is a terrible person!
And that is the beginning of the conversation.
Do you know who is listening to you more intently than your friends ?
It is your own energetic body! In fact you did not even have to say it , your energetic body listens intently to your thoughts too.
In this case your energetic field concludes that this was indeed a really bad day for you.
It does not matter that you woke up, that you are alive, that the coffee guy gave you a smile. No. The entire day has been “bad”.
What does the energetic body do then? It interacts with the energy in the universe and sends out a net negative vibration to tell the universe that things in your life are not great.
Your friends listen to you and maybe add that their own colleagues/ bosses are terrible people too. Or at the very least they tell you to suck it up and just let it go — we have to pay the bills right?
Even if we do not like our jobs!
Do you know the impact of talking about your problems in a group? Energetically your friends just amplified your negative vibration from 1 to 10.
Because now, from just a bad day , your entire job has become bad.
Can you now imagine the damage we do to our lives when we talk about ourselves in this way? Or even if we think in this way!
If we only understood how powerful our thoughts and words are!
Remember this, it is easy to complain. In fact for most of us, it is as easy as breathing. But if you complain about the situations in your life over and over again, you are putting out the energy that things in your life are bad.
Worse, you are amplifying it because as the number of people who discuss the problems in your life ( even in your absence ) increases , the bank of your life is getting filled with more and more negative currency.
And the universe who only interacts with us through energy , gives you exactly what you have put out into the world — more negativity.
If that happens every single day of your life, imagine what that amplifies to , over time?
A couple of days back I had a bad fall out with my boyfriend.
For a long time before that , I had been focussing on the things he was not doing , which I wanted from him. I constantly thought about the problems, where he was wrong and even though I did not say much , energetically I was putting only negative energy into our relationship.
Eventually we had a fall out , and I missed him. I realised that some where, if I wanted my relationship to work, I had to be positive. That is the minimum I could do.
Every day for the 2 weeks, I used to journal what I was feeling. I made it a point to correct my self whenever I had a negative thought. I tried to send positive vibrations into our relationship.
You might feel I am exaggerating but things actually started to get better , almost magically.
Gautam Buddha taught us this in one of his famous quotes:
“ Nothing can harm you as much as your own unguarded thoughts.”
Now, let’s assume you are a person who belongs to Category 2.
2. The Acceptors.
Let’s assume the same scenario as we discussed for category 01.
Up until the point when you reach the bar and when asked about your reason for the delay, your response is :
“ The day was overall good. My boss was mean to me for nothing that I understand. I did my best, so nothing I can do about it. Let’s just forget about that. I am here to have a good time with you guys.”
Did you talk about the problem you had ?
Yes , some of us do need to discuss things.
I am one of those people, but the way we talk about them makes all the difference.
Here , your energetic body gets the message that your day was overall good — so, net energy ? Positive.
Your boss was mean to you — but you did your best — net energy — Positive to neutral.
I am here to have fun — Positive energy.
So what do you think the universe gives back to you?
Positivity.
The universe is governed by a simple law.
You will get back what you give.
You give to the universe in the way you think and in the way you talk about yourself. And others.
But we will focus on ourselves at the moment because the maximum damage we do is to ourselves.
Be careful with your thoughts.
Spiritual leaders over the years and around the world have taught us that thoughts have energy. They are extremely powerful.
So are your words.
A simple way to start thinking positively is to write in a gratitude journal and use it as many times as you can in the day. That worked for me.
Another way I have found is that when I feel bad about a situation, I take a step back and I wait. And I change the narrative in my mind from one of complaining to that of accepting.
It has made my life better.
I hope it does the same for you.
