Do I Have To Focus On Productivity To Be Successful?
I experimented to find out
I read about success and productivity. Things such as a morning routine starting at 5:00 am, followed by a cold shower and bulletproof coffee. Then work in 1-hour blocks using the Pomodoro technique (focused work for 25 minutes, break for 5 minutes — repeat). To summarize, every minute of my day should be planned or accounted for.
Finally, family and friends are scheduled into tiny slivers of a jam-packed week. While nothing about these productivity techniques excites me, they seem to work wonders for other people. So I figured I’d give it a try.
As a side note, I am very present-oriented, not well-organized, and only have a vague concept of time. I make it on time to airplanes, movies, and live performances. Everything else is a gamble. You’d never know I had been in the military for nine years.
My Experiment
I am at a stage where I am ready to make massive changes. I want to change myself to improve my life and become the person I see myself being. Would following a strict schedule allow me to shift who I am?
So I thought I’d try scheduling an entire week. I’d plan out every day from the time I get up until I go to sleep — hour by hour.
