City of Mirrors
Modern spirituality and healing
In this city of mirrors
what can be done
but to look for you
Every surface a reflection
not of me
but that which I wish to be
The irreality of each longing facet
imperfection magnified
each hurt and perceived pain
wrung from the heart
like so much laundry
squeezed out and ready for the line
prepared and awaiting drying
But where,
in this city of mirrors,
can this laundry even be hung?
Here, the city and its mirrored surfaces represent the hall of mirrors of modern life. The soiled laundry are the parts deep within ourselves that seek healing (cleaning).
