Rich and Gooey Gluten-Free Milk Chocolate Chip Brownie
The easy 5-minute throw-together recipe for a dessert that satisfies the chocolate craving
I had two days off this week, a short break before covering a coworker’s shifts because it’s hunting season here in Canada, where ‘game time’ takes on a whole different meaning. With such a short window, I wanted to make a couple of desserts for my family and daughter’s constantly visiting friends and something for me to help get through the extra night shifts. I whipped up some butter tarts and all for myself; I made a walnut and raisin pie. Neither my wife nor child enjoys raisins, but there are only so many sacrifices I am willing to make.
For the girls, one being gluten-free, brownies seemed like a good fit.
Among the other terrible news making headlines, I read there may soon be a chocolate shortage — cocoa is next on the endangered grocery list. For chocolate lovers like my wife and bakers everywhere, a cocoa shortage is upsetting news.
Apparently, a combination of factors has led to cocoa prices hitting a 50-year high. Is that true, or is this yet again more corporate gouging? Who can say? Either way, it’s a real pain in the sweet tooth.
