A POEM
The Cruelest Slur Of All
a poem about Slurs by Allaboutlove
What am I, that they can be so cruel?
Maybe if they bellowed, "You are a fool?"
Does it bring them joy to see my tears?
If so, then perchance I could control my fears?
Don’t they know they can call me many titles as my name?
If they could only hear this torn spirit weeping in shame.
Why must their slurs be aimed at my heart?
Can’t they see nature is the one to set us apart?
Should I walk straight through them, as they push me around?
Do they not know I can survive being thrown to the ground?
Can I at least admit my life fits that of a broken toy?
But can I ever exist hearing,
“You are a BOY!?”
