Gender Diversity: A Western Propaganda or A Colonial Victim?

When we discuss gender diversity or what we love to call today by the acronym LGBTQ+, the most common negative comments are either those based on religious doctrines or a belief that sees the concept as a Western culture that must be barred from contaminating our ‘Eastern/Asian values’. Accepting gender identities or sexual orientations other than the traditional binary framework will get you a label of ‘have been brainwashed by Western propaganda’.

Obviously, this label has no merit.

In the previous article, we discussed the existence of gender-diverse people since before the time of Lord Buddha. This means that the people of northern India and Nepal has acknowledged gender diversity for more than 2,500 years. So how can gender diversity be a Western propaganda? The America continent was not even a thing back then.

Yet, it is still fair for one to wonder: Is there any other civilization in other parts of the world that has similar acknowledgement on gender diversity? And if yes, is the admission still alive today?
