I Misjudged the Matterhorn and Paid a Painful Price

That’s John (my ex), me and my parents on a different, much less painful. trip to the Gornergrot in Zermatt, Switzerland ;) (Author’s Photo)

Neither John nor I is exactly normal. Lawyers aren’t known for being laid back and we can be highly competitive. That’s why, when two of us get married, life gets interesting fast.

We took interesting to a whole new level by living and working out of the Chateau de Barbereche, just outside Fribourg, Switzerland. Not a bad home/office, if I do say so myself —

This shot from across the lake is impressive, no? ;) (Author’s Photo)

John had bought an apartment there shortly before we met, and I wasn’t unhappy with his choice.

One of the problems with living someplace unbelievable is figuring out where to go on vacation. When we got married in Gruyère, one of the guests asked where we were honeymooning and I almost said —

“At home, you idiot.”

We actually ended up going to EuroDisney and staying in Snow White’s castle for a couple days which was very cool, but I digress, as always…

John was excited to show me my new country and decided we should go to Zermatt. It became one of our favorite…
