Member-only story
I put that feeling aside
misplaced in a novel form
reflection in the lenses of others
from the broken mirror in front of me
I saw you there, fading
how you used to shine
like on a TV screen
with all the gaudy colours illuminating the eye
my naïveté of being blind as a bat
had a lot to do with it
confused, you used
every opportunity
to tell fables of no existence
as if to your grandchildren whom you missed
so much so that you forgot
what human decency should look like
dressed in the Salvation Army
instead of branded clothes
for what it’s worth
a man like you and his fictional feelings
displayed on women’s thighs at the highest hour
misplaced, almost like my feelings
never soothed, always rooted
for a poor boy like you
